Thanks all... wound closed. Wife woke up, only slight disoriented. Nothing smelling salts didn't take care of.

Funny thing is one of my first jobs ever was selling cutlery... aka... Cutco knifes... didn't appreciate it then, but damn, those knifes are sharp!

Other intolerable job was the Kirby vacuum cleaner stint... but that's another thread's adventure.

Go to the E.R. already. I mean, why mess around with a deep cut? Have the hospital disinfect it and stitch it up so it doesn't get dirty and infected during the healing process.

No doubt. They'd probably charge a $200 minimum and just slap some butterfly bandages on it. Don't waste their time or yours.

A basic RedCross training course could teach you how to take care of this without going to a hospital and would likely be free of charge.

Just make sure you use some sort of disinfectant on the wound. A large one like that will leave a nasty scar and take twice as long to heal if it isn't taken care of.

Serious answer: (even though you already did it)

Disenfectant
Superglue
Bandage

If it is deep enough to get stiches, go get stiches. Going to a hospital to get the wound reopened is much more expensive than having them close it.
