Best way to clean out a sink?

In my previous places of residence, I've always been able to take the drain plug out when my bathroom sink gets too much hair in it. Now, however, I can't. So, my question is, what's the best way to clear out the sink if there's too much hair in it? Will Drano disolve it? I just don't see how Drano is going to move stuff like that unless it disolves it.

Anyone?

a messy way is to take out the p-trap and clean that out. most likely though, the hair will be caught on your drain plug.

Yeah dranon will disolve it. Don't be fooled by the high priced fancy bottles at the store. I've had the best luck with the cheap generic watery type at wal mart, after all other wouldn't work. 1/3 the price.

Hook a garden hose up to hot water, shove it in the drain, shove a rag around it using a flat screwdriver, turn the hot water on full blast and let it run until the drain runs better.

DEAL! So if this stuff disolves hair, I'm assuming I shouldn't touch my head until a thorough cleaning, eh?

Ummmm.... no. Thanks, but you don't know how stopped up it is. I'd end up with a bathroom full of water.

Go get one of those two foot long flexible plastic things with the spikes facing up every inch or two. You can get them at Menards for like 99 cents. Then wiggle it down into the drain, and whala, hairball removed. I do it to my sinks about every six months.
