Best way to clean monitor screens?

What do you use? Simple damp cloth, a little windex, or something else? Anything special you use todry afterwards?

I find a little bit of windex helps, but both it and plain water tend to leave streaks on the screen afterwards.

Wet paper towel with just a touch of liquid soap (dish or hand). Use another wet paper towel to rinse. Another paper towel to dry.

I use lense cleaner spray for my glasses, it works very nicely.
Go get a spray bottle at Pearl Vision or something.

Don't use Windex because it takes off the anti-glare coating that is on most monitors. But if you've been using it's probably already off anyway. :)

I use a clean towel and some water and sometimes a tiny bit of soap. Although it says in my monitor manual to not use water, wtf am I suppose to use?

edit: Actually don't use any cleaners with ammonia.

Thanks, that makes sense. Gentle on the monitor, very little streaking, and no nasty windex odor too. :)

Dampen a cotton cloth with distilled water, or breathe on the screen and wipe. Don't spray the screen with liquid or it could drip down and cause a shock or corrode the controls.

DO NOT use glass cleaner! This will take off the protective coating on the monitor over time! Just use a soft cloth and dampen it slightly. It's all you need.

Whoops, I've been using Windex forever. Never heard that about the special protective coating oddly enough. Looks like it's a damp cloth for me from now on!! Thanks for the info!

I have been using WIndex on my Trinitron w/ coating for 2 years now, and still no damage done. Cleans great and still have coating.

I don't know, sometimes I like to use a baseball bat, make sure that naughty dirt is gone for good.
