I'm a shoe fanatic, own many pairs of shoes, just wondering what methods you guys use (if any at all) to clean your shoes. I used rubbing alcohol for awhile on my Adidas SLII black/snake running shoes but it seems to have turned grey and lost some of its blackness... never gonna use rubbing alcohol again. Traditional hot water only goes so far for me.

Have you tried backing soda or tooth paste? Or even a good shoe cleaner from a shoe store seems to work well.

I put mine in the washing machine, but they are just cheap sneakers.
That might not be good for Adidas, etc.

toothpaste... seriously? It sounds kinda like someone's trying to get me to ruin my shoes because yes indeed it does sound weird, but if it works i'll give it a try :) Does it matter if the toothpaste has whitening capabilities or not :)

A gal at work has shoes that always look new, but they're not. I asked her one day about it. Here's what she does:
-uses liquid soap on a rag and wipes it on the shoes even when they are new. Every day or two she uses the wet rag with the soap to clean and re-apply the soap. Like I said, her shoes always look new.

liquid soap... that's just the soap that's not in bar form right? Trying to use my head here but just want to confirm. I guess i'll go pull out a pair of old retro jordan's and try the toothpaste/liquid soap right now. Thx guys

I just throw mine in the washer and dryer. Hasn't hurt a pair yet but they do need a little break in again after the dryer :).
