Best VOIP Service

I'm a Vonage customer, have been for 1.5 years, and so far, no problems, but recently, I've been discovering new services (or some I just haven't heard of) and I'm wonder if you can suggest some other services, and more importantly, select the VOIP service you think is best.

as far as i know, packet 8 doesnt have 911 capabilities, yes/no?

Nope, they don't, and neither does Broadvoice, however, this is something that they are in the process of configuring.

Broadvoice and Vulsepulse. I have broadvoice, however if I had to pick ONE best one I would say Voicepulse.

Edit: I also tried packet8, very unstable. I never tried Vonage, but it's pricier. The reason I say Voicepulse over broadvoice is they give you better sound quality, and their options actually work right now. Broadvoice is too new, and very unstable right now. They both use the Supira though. If your going to go with Voicepulse, you should order the Supira 2000 from Voxilla.

Have a link for Vulsepulse? I will add it to the poll as an option.

Also, Vonage is clear. I really can't tell the difference between it and a regular phone line. The only thing I don't like is that you have to dial 10 digits to make a phone call. Is it like that with all other VOIP's?

I just signed up for Vonage today. Mainly because they have working number portability, have been around for a while, and offer a $15 plan plus a fax line for $10 more.

I also got one month free, and free hardware.

Well I've never got fax to work properly over Vonage. Otherwise phone calls work fine although I have a feeling I may have missed some calls occassionally. Not something I'd recommend in a business but for normal home use, it's quite nice to have.

I don't know if faxes work differently then a modem does, but I was able to get my TIVO unit to do an initial call and it actually worked. Surprised me.

My parents have made the same comment about the call quality when I call them from my Vonage line. They ask "are you on your Internet phone thingy?" when I tell em yeah they go "wow it sounds really good"

On Vonage now, have not tried anything else. It's kind of flaky at times, but I blame that on my cable connection not Vonage.

I have Vonage and have no problems with It. I got used to dialing 10 digit numbers, I do it everywhere I go out of habit now😛 I've only used vonage so can't vouch for anything else...ohh yeah I get to screw the TelCo too😀 'course I still pay $60 for 756k dsl😛 I have the $25 plan $20 cheaper than POTS and get all the options and 500 free LD too.

WHOA! $60 = 756K? That's a little steep. I am with Charter and pay around $40 for 3MB services, and I normally get more than that, on avergage.

Glad you like Vonage; I do too!
