Best Virus Scanning software?

In your opinion, what is the best virus scanning software and why? I am gearing up for college and would like more protection than I currently have.
 
I use Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition. Works great and updates are like every 2 days or so. It hasnt screwed up any of my systems and has actually caught a few viruses.
 
Another vote for Norton AV. I have the personal edition, but my university offers the corporate edition to all students and staff for free.
 
If your school doesn't give you anything for free, AVG is free and as good as any other AV software. Norton, et al, are a waste of money.
