Or the other arcade classics: Donkey Kong, etc?

C-64/Amiga classics like Archon, Maniac Mansion, Defender of the Crown, It Came From the Desert, F/A-18 Interceptor, Test Drive, etc.

 
How can you compare two totally different games like X-Com and HL1? HL1 is a FPS, with very minor bits of puzzle solving in it, X-Com is RTS/turn-based combat, so very different. Hell, just for the amount of itme that each wasted of my life, X-Com is the winner.
 
I PM'd regarding Monkey island 1 and 2, loom, and indiana jones and the fate of atlantis. Old school adventure games ftw!

I loved Civ1..I loved Civ2..heck I licked almost all civs including Colinization! Even with all of the games I have liked that have spawned from the likes of sid meirs..I hated alpha centauri..that was a horrible game.'

I remember how it went down. I get pcgamer every month(best pc mag ever)and they had a reivew for it. THey gave it some crazy score of like 96 or something...i think HL1 the best game ever rated by pcgamer is like a 98 i believe.(prob wrong by now).

Went out the store...got it right away..played it..thought it sucked..and i didnt just play it a little..I gave it all the chances it could.

I, on the other hand, enjoyed it more than the Civ series. And PC Gamer gave it a 98% which continues to be the best rating ever, although it has since been tied by Half Life 2.

Awesome game.
 
This is a pretty good poll, but I don't agree with the new games being matched up against old classics. That doesn't seem like a fair comparison to me. The old ones have stood the test of time and it's much easier to see their influence now. It's hard to judge a new game against an old one.

True, and I'll do my best to make the pairing better in the next round.

Besides, for close polls, both games will likely be left in the pot and reshuffled. This is mainly to eliminate those games that won't make it at all.
