The most fun I ever had at an arcade was playing San Francisco Rush 2049 with my friend...

We each threw in some tokens and tried to play but the credits didn't register.. so we called the arcade dude and he gave us more tokens.. and then they didn't work.

So, the arcade dude just opened up the door and left it opened and told us to play all we wanted... we just had to push a little red button on the inside of the door.

We played for about four hours straight until the arcade closed... I think Rush has got to be the coolest racing game ever.

First of all, Donkey Kong DOES NOT suck.

second of all, I agree with MainFramed, there are hundreds, that's why my vote for best arcade game ever goes to: MAME! ;)

Seriously, I was born in 1971, so I got to grow up during the whole arcade era, which I look back on in great fondness. I remember the arcade near me used to give out free tokens for A's that you got on your report card. (that really made being a straight-A student WELL WORTH the effort ;) ). That was the day when you actually had to LEAVE your house to play the best games of that day.

Geez, I sound like a freaking old man now...sheesh, somebody stop me, please...

p.s. oh, maybe or maybe not my favorite, but probably the game that got more quarters from me than any other game was John Elway's Team Quarterback. Back in high school my friend and I were totally addicted to that game...we'd each drop in like $4-$5 (we'd take turns playing quarterback & receiver), play a full football game from start to finish. I don't remember what our final record was, but I know we were undefeated, and him and I were buried at the #1 and #2 spots on the all-time high score list on that game for a looong time.

Rush 2049 kicks major ass in the arcade.

I used to play "classics"! Space invaders for my grandpa's old Texas Instruments computer. Asteroids for the Atari. Never did much arcade hopping when I was a tike. Double Dragon was kinda fun later on. That was NES right? super cool in the arcade!!
