Im looking to purchase a new video card for my PC which will be used for gaming

Which cards you you guys suggest from Nvida or ATI, and which models? Thanks Alot!

Whenever you say you are going to buy a new video card, you need to state your budget and what games you will be playing.

No Limit (as long as its a single card for now) and 1440x900 resolution on a 19" WideScreen LCD

8800GTX!

lol
8800GTS would even be overkill.

But hey, if you have no $$$ limit, get the 8800GTX and turn up that eyecandy.

It may be an illogical decision, but who knows how much power games will take down the road (or if you'll have the same monitor)

Dual core? Screw that! Get quad core during the summer!

at 1440x900 the max you'll prob need is a 1950xt(x), but i guess 800gts has the dx10 capability but that wont come into play until after vista releases. if i were you i'd get something like a x1950xt(x) and upgrade in the summer after vista's released and drivers mature.

Vangurd will play fine with your cpu a little more ram and a fast agp card like the x1950pro at that resolution. I read an article that a 2.8 pent 4 with 1 gig ram and a x800xt will run it well. They also said "the high water mark" would be a pent 3.0 , 2 gigs ram and a x1800xt.

BEST ? easy answer....8800GTX and X1950XTX.....as the others said.

I've currently got an ATI x1900xtx and I need to finish a second build (both using p5w dh) sometime next week. I'm concerned about the graphics card, though, as I don't want to drop 400 bucks on a non dx10 card unless there's some real residual value in it. So what would you think is the best way for me to go? Grab a x1950 crossfire so that later on I could pair the x1900 and the x1950 for crossfire and purchase a new dx10 card, or just go for the 8800 now? And if so, what's the best 8800 out there right now for the money?
