In case you haven't noticed I think you should go for a lesser vid card (if anything) and try to save some money. You're what, like 25 years old by now, time to grow up and look to the future, not into self-gratification and the present.

He'll be 23 and I turned 24 earlier this month, and thanks for the kind/wise words Staley. I figure this will be my last big purchase for a long, long time - and the money spent on the video card will take the place of those that would have been spent on Lakers tix. Right now it looks like I'll be looking for a good deal on the 6800GT video card, which hopefully can be found for $300-350 or so. Next step, Roth IRA.

Sorry my first post was a little harsh (i just reread it). I guess I got super pumped I didn't mean to sound like an arrogant pirate. Just wanted to point out that in my infinite wisdom I would recommend saving a little for the future if you don't have much saved up now. You never know what can happen (bills, job status, etc.). And you don't want to end up with nothing to fall back on.

I love you,
A kind hippo

+ note, lol @ the kind hippo, that makes me feel kinda fuzzy...?

- note, gf just called, got laid off, and she just got a 04 z71 tahoe with 20s and cant pay for it now. well her mom is paying also but shes paying 3/4 of the bill for it each month. I asked her the other day how much she had in her savings, "25". I was like, you need to start building your savings account in case you ever lose a job. sad to say she didnt listen. sigh... her strats are getting old... gg mondays

If he grabs the card first, dump him. :p

Heh... I don't mind if he goes for the card first, this is something he's wanted for awhile. I tend to fall asleep earlier because I work at 9am and he doesn't have office hours until noon, so it'd be nice for him to have something to occupy his time at night after I conk out.

(oh, and any suggestions on where to find it reliably online at a good price?)

Keeping him away from the pr0n, eh?

This isn't her first infraction. It's impossible for her not to have read the "WRONG FORUM" comments in her previous hardware threads in OT.

Oh, and that remark was quite telling of your true nature.
