Getting rid of this [redacted] Asus GTX 770. What's good to buy right now at that range? Don't really want to spend more than that since I don't game much anymore. Might be interested in Battlefront but other than that I've been Netflixing.

Can you wait another 1-2 months? Once R9 300 series drops, there could be better deals. If you don't want to wait, the card you linked is a great one. Alternatively, XFX due to their lifetime warranty.

R9 290 or wait and see what AMD does in June if you can wait a bit longer.

If you can't be bothered to wait, grab an XFX R9 280 DD for $180 to hold you off until the new cards. When you sell it, it'll still be covered by 2 years of warranty for the next user.

Why would he want to do that? He has a GTX 770 [redacted].

[redacted] not as in performance but quality wise. It hard locks on me when I play WoW all the time. nVidia drivers have took a crap with SC2 with a video lockup that kicks me off of games. ASUS RMA didn't do a thing but waste my shipping dollars. I will never buy another one of their products.

I wouldn't side-grade to a 280X though. At this point I'd probably wait for a good deal on a 970/290X or grab a 290. NV announced TW3+BAK gaming bundle which means it's possible to buy a 970 and sell off both of those games and come in close to $250.

If it's a driver issue, then why would it be Asus' fault? Having said that, if the game locks up on you all the time in both of those Blizzard titles, it could be a GPU issue. Have you tried testing older NV drivers or using this card in a friend's rig to isolate that the card is not a problem?

Well, only the OP knows why he wants to buy a card in the $200-250 range, when he already has what is essentially a $200 card (GTX 770 is slightly better than GTX 960 which is under $200).

I simply read the question in the title and answered it, assumed the OP actually needs a new card

WoW is a hardware problem. SC2 is a driver issue. Although I will say I haven't played SC2 in a few months so I don't know if anything has changed.

I had a spare card for a bit and it worked fine. I've gone through several different drivers throughout their releases in the last year.

It's not the Nvidia drivers but as you stated earlier your card. I've been using that same chip for almost 3 years and never a single crash unless I was overclocked too high. A lot of times drivers get the blame from both camps when in fact it's the GPU itself. When I purchase a new card I am always skeptical of flaws.

With that being said GK104 is showing its age this year. And probably within the next couple of months would be a great time to grab something.

I only say it's a driver issue (or maybe just random nVidia) because there were a ton of people on the SC2 forums experiencing the same issue throughout different chips.

Who knows what it might be. Asus didn't fix it twice and going through their RMA process is a complete pain.

Wait a month at least.

If 370X rumors are true, you're looking at a card that's close to R290 performance at 140W.

If you dont game much anymore, what is wrong with the GTX770?

Edit: If you feel you have to upgrade, then I would suggest waiting as well, at least until we have firm information on the 3xx series. Just be aware that there is a lot of very optimistic speculation being thrown around that may or may not come true.

WoW is a hardware problem.

Makes sense. I'm playing the heck of of WoW: WoD and my GTX 780 performs flawlessly. That Tri-X R9 290 you linked does look good if want to buy right now.

Have you thought about going to TechPowerUp! and getting a copy of the BIOS and flashing it? Doubt it would hurt at this point. Maybe somthing's corrupted in its current one.

Maybe just use Afterburner and underclock it a bit. I don't know - just grasping at straws here.

Getting a 970 and selling or keeping both games is a new good option that can take a solid card like MSI Gaming 970 into a $250 range or so.
