Best video card <$300, AGP, single slot, relatively quiet?

My dad needs a new graphics card for FPS gaming, but i'm behind on the product lines of ATI/ Nvidia. Can someone recommend a good video card <$300, AGP, single slot, relatively quiet.

he has an ATI 9800 non pro now, so these would be a pretty big improvement, right?

They would all be a good improvement. Would you be against getting a used card? If not I could sell you my 6800GT and put an NV Silencer on it for you. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

Yes. I went from a 9800pro (OC'd past XT levels) to a 6800GT. Definatley worth IMHO. The extra vid ram is great for reducing stutter too.
