Best VIA drivers, BIOS, Stability typs for ABIT KT7 (Not "A") and Win2k

I will be reconfiguring for a friend from Win98SE to a fresh install of Win2k.
He has a new CPU and wants to use this one for a 2nd system for his helpers.

Mobo : ABIT KT7 (KT-133 "not A")
CPU: T-Bird 1.4 ghz (100mhz fsb)

Q 1) What would be the best VIA drivers to use for this board?
Q 2) Any special BIOS recomendations?
Q 3) Any special tips to get it stable in Win2k?

I had a real time of it the first time around when I built it with Win98SE. I had to force 1x AGP and several other things, to get it stable.

I have just installed W2K on a KT7 running 98SE. I did a clean install in a dual boot with 98SE. I did not bother with Via 4-in-1 drivers because the Windows default drivers result in a very stable configuration. (If it ain't broke don't fix it.) As for Bios I am using the latest, (I think it's called A9) but you will be able to identify it by the date which is July 11/02. This latest BIOS will permit the KT7 to run processors up to XP2600+. For more info on that:
XP2100+ @ 2400 on a KT7

Taken from VIA Arena,

**Note: Win95/98/98SE are now relatively old operating systems, and drivers are no longer optimized for those operating systems. Many users of VIA chipsets who run Win95/98/98SE report that using an older version, such as VIA 4in1 version 4.35, they experience a more responsive system.

Mem,

According to there site, the newest Hyperion drivers are what I should install for use with Win2K, even on an old KT133(not A).

Do you agree?

Yep I would install the latest 4.46 drivers for 2K,infact I had the lastest installed for my KT133 board which did have 98 on it ,now has XP.

🙂
