I'm thinking about a new video card.

I'm running at 1680x1050. I want stable 30+ fps in games. I realize that's pretty vague. I don't have to run everything with AA enabled, but I don't want to run "medium" textures or turn down cool lighting effects and so forth. I don't care about power that I don't need, and I want to spend as little money as possible.

No AMD/Nvidia preference.

Bonus points for a model that's relatively quiet. (Yeah, right.)

6870 ~170$ (faster than the stock 560)
560 ~194$ (some factory oc versions would be faster than the 6870 stock).

the 6870, if you manually overclock is the better value buy, and faster of the two.

and your 4850 cant do that?

Not on games like Crysis or Metro with maxed details (minus AA of course). Mine struggles a tad as well. It's not bad, but it's definitely a sign to step up.

Plus, BF3 is coming out soon.
