Question Best value at 1080p and MAYBE 1440p, with 2 monitors?

So my kids are all Fortnite players, and play at 1080p, probably with two monitors (at some point... not yet!) as they are all convinced they are going to be pro gamers and stream to make a living (I'm setting expectations).

Anyway, given they are on 1080p or at most, 1440p if they use their allowance wisely, what's the best value card for them? Is is still the 1650 super? Or something else?

I wouldn't exactly call a GTX 1650 Super a 1440P / 60 card. Maybe for a relatively lightweight game like Fortnite it would be doable, at low, maybe med, settings, but for something like RDR2, or RoTTR, you'd want at LEAST an RTX 2060... and new Ampere cards are coming out (semi?) soon, and supposedly the mfgs have been cutting down stock of the higher-end cards in preparation.

So, possibly, a GTX 1650 Super is what you should get regardless, because it's cheap (Relative to other cards), roughly RX 570-580 class performance (albeit at 4GB of GDDR6 VRAM only), and it will hold you over until Ampere drops, with a minimum of investment, while still providing (adequate) performance.

Edit: The other possibility (at around double the cost - $280-300!), is an RX 5600 XT (14Gbit/sec VRAM version), OR possible (at around $200) an RX 5500 XT 8GB version.

Quite frankly, hold off on any graphics card upgrade at this moment. Both Nvidia and AMD are set to announce their new cards in the next few weeks. Both of which will be using a drastically better manufacturing node, which according to everything we have seen will mean we are possibly set to see between 50-100% increase in performance in the card relative to the current generation at the same price point.

This is the kind of performance gains we have not seen in 7-8 years between card generations because both Nvidia and AMD have been stuck at the same manufacturing node.

Maybe *I* will just upgrade and give one of my kids my 1080Ti

That would certainly be ideal for both parties As for the other kid, I would look at used GTX 1080s and 1070(Ti)s once the new cards hit.
