Best Vale\Quality 19" Monitor?

Hey.

I'm looking to replace my current monitor because it got fuzzy on it's upper part and it's causing me eye strain and headaches.

I'm looking for a 19" monitor. I don't wanna spend too much (up to $400). Quality is very important - reading text and playing games.

Thanks.

I like a lot the Viewsonic A90f+. It's an aperture grill, and it goes up to 1920 x 1440 at 70Hz I believe. If you don't like the two tension wires inherent to an aperture grill, the Samsung 955DF it probably a good way to go. It's not as bright as any aperture grill, but it doesn't have the two lines. And it's pretty inexpensive ($190 street price)

I love Viewsonic G series monitors. I have a G790, and I love it. Their E series are a step down -- not bad, but not as good as the G's.

Reading Text=LCD, Games=16ms lcd or a crt. You could get a flat panel 17 inch 16ms display for around that cost, it'd be a little less than a inch smaller viewing area than the CRT's/ Otherwise a 200 dollar viewsonic 19" should do ya fine.

I like my Sony CPD-G420S... too bad they don't make them anymore, and I haven't seen a replacement yet. 🙁
Just bought someone else a Viewsonic G90f for $220. It looked pretty nice.

$173.66-shipped from Dell. I built 4 systems with this monitor, and all those people love it. Can't go wrong with that price.

Any flatscreens though, black or silver?

I think you know where I got it, but in case you forgot, my attorney and I each got it from buy.com to settle our small claims suit against them in those legendary days of the Hitachi monitor fiasco.

I love my Viewsonic. At the time, it listed for aroudn $200 less than the Hitachi, which was OK with me since I knew how good the ViewSonics are. 😀

I use both the samsung 955DF and the Mitsu DP930SB at work, and unquestionably the Mitsu is far superior to the samsung.

Infact the 955df is pretty pathetic even by itself...colors are not rich, text is fuzzy and there are serious geometry and moire problems at 1280x960 and above.... I would definitely stay away from it.

That aside, i highly recommend the Mitsubishi Diamond Pro DP930SB. I believe it is exactly the same as the NEC MultiSync FP912SB, but the NEC is priced a bit cheaper. (dont know why!). Excellent colors, geometry, brightness and picture quality. I run mine at 1280x960@85Hz on a 9800pro, and the picture is rock stable. Awesome for graphics and games.

Also, with the free Naviset software, you can easily and accurately adjust geometry, color, convergence etc with included test patterns, using the keyboard and mouse instead of the buttons on the monitor.

The only 'drawback' of the 930/912 is the weight...its a little bit heavier than the 955df, but not by much.
