So I'm looking at picking up a ting account once their BYOD starts. From what I've read, it sounds like pretty much any Sprint Android phone will work. It seems like I could get a much better phone for around $200 if I go used instead of a new phone at the same price point. My plan was to look for a Galaxy SII, but was wondering if people had other recommendations. Thanks in advance.

GS2, unless you get very lucky and find a Snapdragon S4-powered handset for that price (HTC One S/X, RAZR M).

Might be able to find a Galaxy Nexus. The LTE would probably be pretty worthless for you, but I see some Sprint GNex's on my local craigslist for < $150.

Actually finding some SGS3's for like 3-400.

I doubt one can find a good "used" GS2 for $200...If so, then wow.

You can find plenty of SGII for $200 especially on Sprint.
Since Sprint GSII has limited usage, it is much cheaper than the GSM SGII counterpart.
I know this because I was searching for a used SGII last month.
Ended up getting ATT original SGII(not skyrocket) for $175 but it has a slight scratch on the screen.

I was just basing this off Cowboom. They have one right now that's rated as a 7 for $200. They're pretty easy to find on craigslist for around that price too if you're in a reasonably populated area (which I'm not, unfortunately). Not sure of the condition for most of these, but honestly I'm fine with one as long as the screen isn't cracked or have any huge scratches. I have a couple of months, so figured I'd just start watching. I'm not in a huge rush.
