Best Ultrabook or Similar?

I'm looking to buy an ultrabook or similar within the next month. I was originally looking at the ASUS Zenbook Prime UX31A but have read some bad reviews regarding the performance of the SSD and the computer in general. I'm looking to keep it as much under $1,500 as I can price wise. Any suggestions?

What particular concerns do you have? I just got the ASUS UX31A Touch a few days ago and love it. It's got the best laptop screen and color saturation outside of the Retina MacBook Pro (and it's very close). It makes all other Windows laptop screens look like utter trash.

My main concern is the SSD, according to this: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1K44FL...=&nodeID=&tag= and many other reviews ASUS ships the Zenbook Prime with two different SSD's which have hugely different performance. And there is no way to know which drive you're going to get until you buy the computer. My other concern is with quality control, there are many reports of the Zenbook arriving broken in one way or another. I don't want to deal with a long return process trying to get a laptop that actually works.

I'm also considering the Samsung Series 9 as well as the X1 Carbon.

Where do you live? Are you in the United States? Can you not get it from Best Buy?

I am from the United States however there is no way to tell which SSD your particular Zenbook Prime comes with until you open the box - which Best Buy or any other store isn't going to let you do without buying it. The whole thing is really absurd.

I have the Asus UX32VD, the slightly bigger brother of the UX31. You can upgrade the RAM, up to 10GB. Put in your own SSD. 620M graphics run Borderlands 2 just fine at low-medium settings at 1920x1200. Great screen. Fast. I use it to process 1080p video and photos.

I love it.

Actually, the serial number is on the exterior box and you can call Asus' 800 # and ask which SSD that unit has (you want the Adata, not the Sandisk). Also, BB allows you 30 days to return any purchase for full warranty so you can buy and try and return if you have problems. The UX31A and UX32VD are pretty much the best UBs around and the Touch version seems to benefit from much better quality control as it only started coming off the line in December.
