I've never been to Miami. My buddies and I basically want to go to party and eat. We were thinking about Memorial Day Weekend but then I googled it and found this..

I was thinking maybe the first week of June instead. Is that a good time? Not too crazy hot but nice weather?

I went to Orlando once in mid July.

Never. Again.

I'd say best time to go is anytime that's not June, July, or August.

this...there is NEVER a good time to go to Miami...unless your starting point is Cuba.

Pretty much agree ... but I live near Orlando and would also say the same about Mickey World and the surrounding craziness. I can understand why the europeans, brazillians, etc. come here ... but Americans?

IF you have the insatiable urge to visit this state do so between early November and late March. NEVER attempt this outside of that window unless you enjoy heat, humidty and being very uncomfortable.

OP, if you and your buddies feel the need to visit, why not try a less dangerous place ... like Naples, Delray or Vero Beach or Boca? Just an FYI ... current temp is 55 and the highs this weekend are supposed to be in the high 70s. Remember ... Nov through March.

Whatever you do, do NOT go during Memorial Day. It's a total train wreck. And that's saying a lot for Miami since it's pretty much a train wreck all the time.

If you want to go, do March or wait till closer till the end of year. October'ish.

I was in Ft. Lauderdale this past September/October. Weather wasn't too hot, but the water temp/beaches weren't packed at all since school was in. Tourism was very slow since the Winter season is bigger than the Summer season there. (snowbirds)

If you go in the Spring, you'll probably have the best mix of decent weather and some crowds. If you can time it later than most Spring Breaks, you'll have an easier time travelling.

Between October and April. Anything later than April and you're getting into the hottest months of the year and it is muggy in Florida.

Miami's over rated. Only time I go there is when I fly there to go to Key West.

Do not go during Urban Beach Week. Everyone shuts down and boards up like if a hurricane was coming. South beach turns into a Ghetto.

December, January, or Febuary is best. You will have nice weather, and you can feast upon the deliciousness of Cuban Cuisine!

Best Time to go to Miami?

I used to live there. IIRC, March was the best. Not too hot and plenty of breezes (I like sailing and windsurfing).

IMO it's too hot in the Summer and you could end up with rain for days on end. Hurricane season could also be a concern in the Summer. Hurricane season begins June 1.

Otherwise checkout a calendar of events: http://www.miamiandbeaches.com/events

I love the people in this thread all aghast about the weather in the summer. It was far more miserable in the summer in D.C./Northern Virginia than it is down here. At least we get the breeze off the ocean and are not just a boiling swamp.

That said, I agree with the "never" for going to Miami, but I'm also married, have kids, and frankly would have no friggin clue what to do in the 'scene.'

Ill agree with never, my first thought. I only live 60 miles from there but it is a whole different (third world) country.

The only place in Floriduh worse than Miami is the Miami Airport.
