Soooo I was on tirerack recently and it said with the 16'' steel rims, that due to some interference with the OEM TPMS, I need some "custom" sensors installed, which is an extra $220. So now, a 16'' steel rim with the altimax artic would run me over $1000 if I had them shipped to me, and I think just shy of $1000 if I went to pick them up.
It actually is cheaper to get a slightly better wheel which fits the stock TPMS but it's still around $970. That particular wheel is also the same width as the OEM wheel (just 1 inch smaller) so will traction really be that much better? For $970 bucks, I'd expect much better traction than just slapping on a 17'' snowie over my OEM wheels. Yes I know I won't get the ability to put the set on as I please, but for double the price... if traction isn't superior, I don't really see the point.
