I'm in the process of doing a complete system upgrade, and was all set to buy on Sunday... then decided to wait till a couple of checks cleared to me so I didn't have to withdraw anything from savings to temporarily cover the expense.(Christmas presents all seem to hit at once hehe.)

Well, I should have bought Sunday, as it turns out... newegg doesn't have instant savings on the things I was looking at as of today, and that makes about a $50-70 difference. I'm definitely buying before the 31st as that is the deadline for about $100 in mail-in rebate. However, I was wondering if I should just bite the bullet and order it today, or if I should wait till after X-mas to see if they run specials.

I haven't really tracked how newegg does business, but since the demand for individual components doesn't exactly rise right before x-mas, I can't imagine them dropping that much, or running that many specials. But then again, I've never paid attention. Anyone have input? Buy today, or the 26th/27th?
 
Buy today, if it goes down in the next few days a price adjustment should be relatively quick & painless with their online chat/support folks.
 
Don't know what else you get in the US other than Black Friday, but if you have major post-Christmas sales, I'd wait till then. Last year, I just couldn't wait 2 weeks and bought before Christmas. If I waited, probably would have saved about $50 on a $700 build.
 
Another question... they HAD a $30 rebate on the 7900, but I waited too long and that one is no longer valid. However, they have a $20 rebate on the 7950... which has twice the ram. that makes the difference between them about $50. I'm thinking I should just spend the extra cabbage and get the better card? The original plan was to get a cheaper card around $150, and hold out till the 8800s come down in price.(I'm upgrading from an AGP config, so I do need to get a new card of some sort, but I'm certainly not going to shell out $500 for a single card.)
