Best Thermal Grease - Arctic Silver 3? Also, how to clean CPU off....

I bought a Alpha 8045 heatsink, and a silencer fan to go with it. While waiting for it to arrive, I was reading the install instructions (this should be fun), and noticed that I need some thermal grease. I've never dealt with it before, so I just wanted to be sure that arctic silver 3 would be the stuff to get.

Edit- Oh yeah, the place I bought my silencer fans from (http://www.pcpowerandcooling.com/home.htm) said that they were throwing in some grease for free. Is this most likely generic brand stuff good enough, or is there that much of a difference between the regular and the best?

Also, my other question. I'll be removing my old coolermaster hsf combo, and I was thinking that there was probably going to be some residue from the thermal pad that the coolermaster HS used. How do I clean this off without damaging the cpu?

IMO Arctic Silver 3 is the best out there, heres my review if you are interested OCModShop As for cleaning off the old stuff just use alcohol thats what I allways use (not the kind you drink) 😉

Couple quick temps for your comparison - I just finished putting AC3 on my chip (Athlon 1.2ghz) after cleaning off the old thermal pad. Temps went from 53C/60C to 48C/57C (no load/full load). not a huge improvement, but definate improvement. I can't compare to any other type of grease as I have only used AC3 and thermal pads, but from what I've read AC3 is the way to go.
