I know I should probably ask this question on a guitar forum, but I just love you fsckers too damn much to do that.

So what do you all recommend? I'm no stranger to sheet music, but I'm a guitar newb.

QFT. What type of guitar are you trying to learn? Classical should be added to that list.

Wholenote.com has to be one of the greatest guitar communities around. Their are literally over a million lessons on it. You can ask the authors questions and they get right back to you. And the forum is an excellent source for info.

I learned to play entirely from that website starting about 9 years ago.

I'd take a few lessons first. If you learn bad fingering from the start, you'll have to unlearn everything and start over years later.

Going rate for an instructor is $15 a pop. Not bad, and you'll learn things faster.

I got a guitar when I was 16 and never learned to play it. I just got it out of my basement after 20 years and started to try and learn. Right now I'm just playing using tabs I get online. I'm not really learning the fundamentals. That Fender site looks great.
