The best, cheapest and EASIET way to UNLOCK an Athlon T-Bird is by using a pencil.........PENCIL in ALL 4 L1 bridges (that is, if they are not already attached) make the 4 L1 points look like this...

| | | |

If your processor already looks liek that on the L1 bridges than it came Unlocked from the factory......

if ti looks like this

: : : :

Than you need to pencil it in, than after its done, switch your FSB/CPU Speed from 100MHz to 133MHz and DROP your Multiplier from 12.0X to 9.0X and now you will have a 1.2GHz Processor BUT with a FSB with 33% BIGGER/BETTER/FASTER Bandwidth which you WILL NOTICE in everything you do (except 3D Studio MAX rendering as its only dependent on RAW MHz as opposed FSB Bandwidth limited liek 3D Games are.....

ALSO, if she posts/works with the 133MHz FSB and a Multiplier of 9.0X, try raising the Multiplier to something like 10.5X...to make 1.4GHz..........raise the voltage if necessary, and there you have it, a free CPU Upgrade... =)

Didn't have to pay a cent and now u can go buy yourself your new Video Card........

BTW I recomend the ATI Radeon 8500 AS with newer drivers ebign released all the tiem now from Ati (oddly enough) the card WILL start to outclass the GeFroce 3 series cards in everything, as it is newer/betetr technology in the making......AND you'll save quite a bit, as a Radeon 8500 is ALWAYS better than a Ti200 and GF3 in Benchamrks, and neck and neck with the Ti500......so your choice....for that money u save, hell u can even buy a newer/faster Harddrive...(which no one mentioned) =)

Good luck with it all, and have fun doing it =)

yes,try the pencil trick.if it dont work you can erase it. :)
whats the highest buss you can curently get to and what type of cooler are you running.your going to need a decent cooler since you'll most likely have to bump cpu voltage up to get the most you can.although just dropping the multi and raising fsb so your back around default speed shouldnt cause to much more heat.
and yes the 8500 is sweeet

I am running the Alpha 6045 with the "noisy" delta. I tried the pencil trick on my 750 Mhz Athlon but doesnt the pencil wear off after a while?

Thanks

My FSB seems happy and stable at 108 Mhz. My Sandra Scores are 3661 MIPS and 1773 MFLOPS. Ill do some more tests and see how stable she is.

is that as high as you can get your buss? i'd think you could get more but how much it will actauly help is questionable.

Ive gotten it to 108 with no problem and no modification, just settings in the bios. I am gonna let it run at that for a while and see. Ill probably go higher later tonight.

Im really leaning towards the Leadtek GF3 Ti500 or Ti200.
