Best sword fighting in a movie...

I found myself wondering tonight as I was at the video store what movie has very cool sword fighting action sequences in it? And I suddenly became afraid that I might have seen some of the best. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon has some of my favorites. Star Wars EP2, has some good ones. Do any of you have suggestions as to movies that have some great sword action in it?

Thanks...

Mask of Zorro has some good stuff. I also liked Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves. Ummm that's all I can think of. Those might not be the 'best' but they have stuck in my mind.

this is not the Wesley Snipes (which is childs play compared to this one). I'd also check out "Swordsman II" with Jet Li.

Hmmm... righty-o... I might have to see if I can get my hands on a copy of that. That sounds like it could be very entertaining.

By the Sword had some good fencing in it. More Classical then the flashy stuff in most movies.

I think The Mask of Zorro is one of the coolest sword fighting in an American-made movie. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon has good sequences too, however, if you've seen over 100+ HK/China/Taiwan movies (like me) set during the same period, you wouldnt think CTHD would stand out as much as it does to American viewers. Lots of HK movies have good sword sequences too, I dont doubt that some are better than those in CTHD. There are just too many to keep up with.

Sooo, what I'm hearing is that if it's from HK and it's made it's way into the American Cinema loop you can bet it'll probably have some good fighting in it somewhere. (Either that or make sure your movie has Jet Li in it...)

Another vote for Braveheart, lots of blood and people dying, with a real story line, even if it is taken loosely on the man himself.

But I know something you do not know... Ohh whats that? I am not left handed.

Another vote for The Princess Bride 🙂

He doesn't give a damn about a good story line, and if he just wanted many people to die he could watch Rambo III instead or something. He specifically asked for the best sword fighting scenes, and then you don' t arrive at Braveheart.

WHERE THE HECK DID THAT COME FROM!!!!

I had my hopes that The Muskateer would have some good sword fighting... and from my memory I think it did have some cool stuff. But the movie was so bad and the camera work so terrible to watch that it covers most of the good stuff up
