Best sub $300 digital camera?

I'm looking to buy a digital camera, and my limit is $300. I'm not going to be doing pro photography or anything even close, but I want to send pictures to my parents who live in Florida, and a few friends I've kept in touch with who've moved across the US. That and cameras are fun 🙂

Anyways, what's going to be my best bet? I'll probably buy it from Newegg, if that helps.
