Best sub $300 digital camera?

I'm looking to buy a digital camera, and my limit is $300. I'm not going to be doing pro photography or anything even close, but I want to send pictures to my parents who live in Florida, and a few friends I've kept in touch with who've moved across the US. That and cameras are fun

Anyways, what's going to be my best bet? I'll probably buy it from Newegg, if that helps.
