Hey guys,

I wanna upgrade from my Geforce 8800 GTS. What is the nicest PCI Express card I can get for under $200 right now. I am looking at the Geforce 9800 GTX.

Before or after rebates??? Nvidia or ATI???
MSI GTX260 $199.99
SAPPHIRE 4870 $199.99 179.99AR

To me, it won't give you a huge jump in graphics with what you have. I would wait until new cards come out not the new refreshes that are coming out.

Both of those are pretty big jumps from the 8800gt. You would be happy with either, and you would also be happy with the new cards that are coming out later. The choice to buy now or wait will always be there. If you aren't happy with performance now, then buy now. If you are able to tolerate current performance, then wait.

He has a 8800GTS which is pretty much on par with a 9800GTX and to me, that's not enough of a jump for $200 but it's his $$$

I would only suggest an upgrade there if you have already identified a buyer for your current card. That would make the upgrade be a lot less costly.

If you're 8800GTS is the 320MB or 640MB version, then getting that GTX 260 might be wise. But if you have the 512MB version, I'd wait it out another 6-9 months.
