Well I'm from Georgia. And it would be hard for me to choose to leave. We get fairly mild winters, nice hot summers, virtually no natural disasters of any kind. Atlanta is one of the US's largest metropolitan areas. Several really great universities.
My only real complaint is the problem we have with pollen. When unhealthy pollen count is like 400 and it's not uncommon to see 2-3000 around here, it's hard for those of us with any allergies.

It's truly impossible to rank states to everyone's satisifaction. That said, I've been in 'em all except Alaska, and I've come to appreciate the lush rolling green hills of my home state of Pennsylvania.
I also think Big Sur and environs in Cali are special, as are the Outer Banks of NC, as is the UP in Michigan, as are rocky, ragged Maine and Vermont, as are the hot springs and stark Western beauty of Colorado, as . . . well, you get the idea.
Personally, my journeys through and in Texas have been among the worst, and there's something about the insecure bragging many Texans seem to have to do that sticks in my craw, and we won't even mention the metropolitan abortion that is Houston but still . . . so many damn fine singer songwriters have come out of Texas, from Jerry Jeff Walker on down (I could name about 15 justlikethat) -- you just can't generalize about entire states, eh?

I am with you there. The only thing we are missing are Mountains.

I must disagree. Its dark all winter and you'll freeze if you go outside. Then in the summer there are to many mosquitoes to go out side. Even the bears hate it, they sleep half the year.

Louisiana is only at the top the charts with the food and sports list. (Yes, sorry USC phans, but the LSU tigers will pound you into oblivion)
Other than that, Louisiana is pretty much near the bottom on most other issues, and at the VERY bottom on crime and murder rates thanks to New Orleans.
Maybe if we could take the all the Californians out of California...
