Built a rig recently that included a evga gtx570 that runs the game fine but running across a issue that's all new to me since iv'e been playing.

The game would run fine for a while and it would suddenly hard lock the screen goes black going into task manager i have to exit the exe for BF3.

Then it happened again this time some funny marks that looked almost like $ dollar signs then it did the black screen thing again.

Running the latest beta drivers would that be it?

Which driver version is the most stable?

The last two Beta's resolved all issues with BF3 for me. I don't have any goofy texture weirdness with the foliage and no more black screen crash. You know, BF3 had me questioning if my rig was stable, until virtually everyone was getting the same problem. Anyway, as I said, the last two beta drivers have worked very well for me. 460 GTX SLI

I have the same crash @ random times. When I disable SLI, it seems to fix the problem. Running one really pisses me off though. 2 580's are expensive

With the exception of TDR's while browsing the web, I've had good luck with 285.79 beta. (the 290.36 beta was a very bad experience for myself, but I think the GTX 590 users seem to like it for the most part.)

They made a WHQL driver especially for BF3. I forget which one it was. It should work well.

With the beta I was getting strange artifacts in 2d windows while scrolling.

No strange artifacts here but just the hard locks from time to time.

Battelog still gives me the non stop connection errors iv'e come to know and love but hopefully tomorrows patch fixs that and the hard lock issue.

Good stuff when you go from one pc build to another with a whole list of new issues it is rewarding :awe:

Hard lock is not frequent enough to be that big of a issue but the battlelog battle of connecting is.

Hard lock? You sure it is a hard lockup? That means CTRL-ALT-DEL will not bring up task manager and that nothing esle responds requiring you to hit the reset button on computer. If you are getting a hard lockup, then you have a hardware problem, IMO.

I hit ctrl-alt-delate its the only way to close the exe for BF3 the machine itself doesn't lock up just the stupid game.

Few seconds ago the game just hard locked and going to task manager i see a bf3 has stopped working error before i even closed it i lost out on tons of points.

Been playing for hours but ironically my dual core and my radeon 6750 never locked up.

I know tons of people with high end rigs are having issues with this game but wow i am guessing its picky as all hell or its out to piss me off...

Kinda on the fence about wanting to play this game anymore...rather go back to BC2 at least i will have a near perfect gaming experience none of this horseshit i am having now.

All drivers are new recent fresh there is absolutely no reason why this game should be hardlocking...i can dick with older drivers but the hardlock issue happens so rarely and often its hard to pin down if its a driver issue or a game issue.

It has been my experience that exiting a match before it ends still grants you all the points you have earned up until that point.

Only thing that a hard crash or a server drop i get nothing.

I enjoy playing not getting 20 mins into a round and getting the boot.

Rolled back to 285.62 tonight last time i used that i had really no issues with it i never had much luck with beta drivers then again i swear the best are 265.58 this year alone.

Try using Orgin to launch the Battlelog browser - when I did that I no longer have issues... when I used IE to launch the battlelog browser I had all kinds of issues (weird) - including asking me to install plug-in when I installed it already...

Been running BF3 since release with no crashes..

The green screen flicker was fixed in the last patch too.

Seems few people with radeon cards are having issues,my radeon 6750 even oced at 6770 levels gave me zero fuss.

Gonna go out a limb here and say nvidias drivers aren't to snuff i may go back to 285.79 it seems the best driver.

I used 285.79 drivers for 20+ HRS and no crashes and other drivers with no crash in BF3.

You may want to try to turn up the voltage a little on your 570 to get rid of game crashes ,it has worked for others.

I run SLI 580 GTX 3GB cards.

Running 285.79 now but the latest patch solved the rest of my issues including the crashing.

The card wasn't clocked pass msi oced using a .975 core which is fine and rather common but still it did crash at stock.

Go figure vanilla BF3 no issues, first patch issues, second patch issues disappear only issues i had with vanilla was stuttering and it was more then likely cause of my dual core and radeon 6750 which i no longerhave this rig .

Installing the latest beta driver 290.36 fixed ALL of my battlefield 3 crashing issues. I've been crash free since install (4 days ago.)

Battlefield 3 is gonna force me to downgrade to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit just so I can use DirectX 11.

I have used windows 7 since beta 7000....it was better in beta then vista sp1 for me don't get me wrong xp is great but times have changed time to move on brother man.

Windows 7 has been very very great for me...why you won't go windows 7 is beyond me.

Windows 7 is not a downgrade from xp...vista was so as much effort as i put into answering this possible troll post...i thought i'll put that out there.

Xp never supported dx10 nor 11...we have moved pass dx10 in most titles...

I agree, crazy...but, I have moved past Windows XP..and, like others I had a tight grip on never letting go of Windows XP...until Windows 7 was cleaned up with a few patches it is the best mainstream operating system hands down. Drivers...another issue depending on the flavor of the day.

I found driver support very good,i remember plugging in some hand me down hp printer it was maybe from like 2002 who knows.

The os found the drivers and i was printing a document in less then 5 minutes it was all automatic i was shocked..some xp drivers for devices i got working on 7.

As for xp i didn't ditch it till a little while after crysis came out cause i wanted dx10 and i had a 8800gts that was dx10 compatible as well.

I see the poster of the downgrade comment has a gtx460 being a dx11 card which is a shame cause there is alot of nice dx10 and dx11 games:awe:

Windows 7 is 100 times better than XP ever was. Vista on the other hand... That was a nightmware (for support).... I had no problems with it myself using Vista Ultimate, but Win7 is so much better.

Ironically i find the game has blacklisted me into having the worst BF3 experience possible...the last patch fixed the crash's but as of yesterday i had a complete day of server disconnections .

Went out right after the last disconnect last night purchased another copy of BC2 played 2 entire 1,000 ticket rounds of heavy metal without a single issue of any kind i was up till 3am having a blast:biggrin:

Bf3 is the better game but the fun factor with it is over for me...it needs work maybe a few more months worth...i didn't play BC2 till like 6 months after it came out only cause i just heard of it by luck lol.
