HI! Guys. need your opinion for this built i have.and want to put a ssd to speed it up.doing photoshop.alot.

asus m4a88t-m
phenom llx4 975
2x 4gb kingston 1333
500 gb wd blue
asus gt430 video
500 watt cooler master
antec 300 case

Crucial M4 64GB $80

The M4 is SATA 6gb/s but it won't matter much, even at SATA 3gb/s it is a lot more responsive than any hard drive.

EDIT: Actually, scrap that suggestion. You can get a Samsung 830 128GB for only $40 more. Twice the size and faster

Crucial M4/Micron C400 or Intel 320 series.

Any SSD will speedup massively. Its the seektime that makes SSDs fast, not the raw bandwidth. You HD is most likely 14000us seektime. The SSD around 65us 🙂

I second ShintaiDK- I recommend a 128G SSD as opposed to a 64G just to keep a healthy amount of available space, and I would keep your current HDD as a secondary drive for misc storage.

edit: I did a bit of looking around; If you are running 64 Bit OS, you may want to consider increasing your RAM, as photoshop loves memeory when working with large files.

"Best" is highly subjective of course and really depends on your price range.

I've used Crucial and OCZ SSDs with great success. You'd be safe with either brand, and the larger drive you can afford, the better off you'll be. I wouldn't get one smaller than 120GB.

Really, any SSD is so much faster than any HDD that it doesn't matter too much which one you get. However, pricing is really competitive right now, so a top-end unit like the Samsung 830 that lehtv suggested doesn't cost you extra than one of the slower units.

I got the Crucial M4 128gb last week for $100 and couldn't be happier. Running it on a Sata 3 pci card and it is blazing fast. My rig boots damn near instantly.

Ok i think i just made my choice. i will go with mfenn recomendation. i was thinking about getting a Samsung. so Thank you everyone for the tips.
