And how about fees, anyone know what the fees/taxes are on higher end sprint plans? Theres a possibility that I can jump on an unlimited everything family plan...but it depends on how it divids up after all the junk fees and stuff. Ive got a 30$ plan that adds about 5$ in fees/taxes...should I be expecting around 10% more than the list price or is it even worse?

Ive got an old Sanyo SCP-8400. At the time I chose it because it was the best all around. A nice durable flip phone to protect the screen, good call quality and reception, long battery life, and a lot of nice features on top of internet and GPS capability. Well its been several years and it might be time to upgrade myself.

EVO would be the obvious choice but that is going to incur another charge. I would go with either the Hero or Pre.

So anyone have experience with the sprint everything family plan? 130$ a month plus 20$ per line...but how about them fees. I want to know what itll really cost.

And heres a crazy question, any phones with radio? I like to listen to music, but cant afford an MP3 player and dont really want two devices anyway. I currently use my phone to stream pandora radio online or listen to some of the songs I have loaded onto the SD card...I get over 5 hours if Im listening off the SD card and it seems like 4 hours if Im streaming. I wonder if radio would be a usefull addition (HD radio?). I do use the internet here and there, Im thinking a newer better phone would allow me to use it more (especially if I can get 4G). I would like a good GPS...my current phone has one but no spoken directions and a tiny screen do make it hard to follow (that and no keyboard makes it a pain to type in adresses).

Are these phone at all durable? I got a flip phone last time to help protect the screen and stuff, and Im glad I did. Ive got the phone in my pocket and it gets kicked smashed and banged around as much as I do. Suprisingly though the main screen is almost like new (one scrape on the side) and everything else is still in good working order. Im concerned about having such a large screen just sitting out ready to get stabbed. Would they have a hard cover that snaps over it?

Call Sprint and give them you zip code and they can tell you what your bill will be, taxes are different everywhere so we can't tell you what it will be.

Some of the HTC phones have a radio but most are turned off from the factory and you have to hack them to work. I'm not sure how the Touch Pro 2 comes, the EVO has one. None of them have HD radio to my knowledge.

I haven't had any trouble with my touschscreens. Just get a screen protector and you will be fine. If you want a more basic phone but still has some halfway decent features, take a look at the Lotus Elite. It's still a flip phone since you like that style but is more than you basic phone. Just don't expect a good browser.

I have about $30 of extra fees on top of my bill (more like 24, but factoring in my employee discount). This will likely vary depending on your area though. This is based on a everything data family plan with 4 total lines.

I would not get the Pre now, Palm has to release the next version soon, maybe fall... or else they will slip purely into mobile tablets. I hope not, despite the hardware flaws and slow OS, I really like my Pre. But I could not recommend it at this time on Sprint.

I'm on the fence regarding EVO, so I'd say wait to see how android 2 is being said to perform on the Hero, or Samsung Moment.

How does how Android runs on the Moment or Hero relevant to the EVO? Both of those use slow and dated CPU's. The EVO has a modern 1Ghz CPU. That said, 2.1 runs great on the Hero.

it's relevant for exactly what you stated. I did not know if it'd be too slow for it, thus, pushing a recommendation toward the EVO and the $10/mo extra.

if you have 4G locally and want a radio, theres really no reason to look at anything other than the evo. get an evo, dont look back.
