Best Speakers For Under $220

Hello- I was looking to buy a set of 5.1 Speakers for under $220. I have a laptop, as well as an Xbox, so I was looking for a set that you could easily hook up to a console system so I could use it while playing games and watching movies, as well being able to just hook my laptop into when I wanted to listen to music or play PC Games. The room they will be used in will not be that small as it is a dorm room so it dosn't have to be very powerful.

Klipsch D-5.1 GMX
I was looking at these since they offer a complete system with Dolby Digital(Which the Xbox supports), and Dolby Pro Logic II.

Creative Inspire GD580 5.1 Speaker System
However I have also seen these, but I have not heard much about their quality.

Logitech Z-680
These are out of my Price range currently, but is it worth saving up for them?

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions they would be most appreciated. I don't need that much sound because of the small area, but I do need something that will work well both with consoles, and with my computer.

Thanks.

Save for the 680s, they are sweet!!!!!! I own a set and am glad I saved abit and got them. If the TV and computer are close you could hook them both up at once because the 680's have three sets of inputs, Direct, Optical, and Coax; you can switch between them.

the klipsches wont play 5.1 from your laptop, but thats probably not a concern...
the z680s have a really muscular sub, but it does tend to get boomy...
havent heard those Creatives, but i dont like their speakers in general. they just sound flat and muddled to me. though its been a while, so they may have improved their sound.
my advice is to listen to each set, with your own music tracks or whatever, if you can... dont let somebody tell you "OMG THIS SET ROXORS!" because you'll be disappointed when/if it doesnt. their ears are not your ears.

that said, i would grudgingly say that the klipsches are a good buy, if money is tight... but the z680s are a better set, if you can stand to wait until you've saved the cash. but then, if youre saving that much anyway, why not take a look at the klipsch promedia ultra 5.1 set? i hear it's a nice system... if youve read other posts ive made, i was extremely disappointed by the original promedias, but the ultras are apparently a substantial improvement.

but let your own ears decide, if you have the means to test each prospective setup on your own.

Does your laptop have 5 channel sound?

ANyways, I'd recommend the Logitech z680s for console gaming and TV.

The laptop dosn't have 5 channel, but my desktop does, which will ocassionally be hooked up to the speakers.
