The chevy 305 & 350 v8's are the best sounding engine of all time.

That being said, i really like the vortex v6 3500.

1) 1965 Jaguar E-Type OVHC in-line 6

2) mid 50's Ford 312 V-8 with glass-packs.

6 Cylinder inline, DOHC that's 12 valves - one set for intakes, one set for exhaust,
each camshaft activates 6 valves down the head bank.

QFT. the straight 6 in the M3 CSL or the NSX-R are pretty awesome as well.

Come to think of it though, the exhaust makes a big difference in the overall sound.
