i have the audigy 2 platinum ZS. and onboard nvidia sound but i'm using the audigy.

Depends on what game you're into. I remember reading that Doom 3 doesn't use the sound card, only uses the cpu for processing sound, so even the "best" sound card won't help you with that game.
