Best Songs of the 90s

I don't really know how to describe what I'm looking for other to say that I'm not looking to hear about your favorite Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, NiN, etc. songs. I want the songs that you loved and maybe occassionally hear on the radio and think 'Wow, I remember that song/band!'

There was just so much variety in music in the 90s and it's hard to get a feel on what I'm looking for. To put this in perspective, I'm looking for things like The Toadies, Sponge, God Lives Underwater, etc. If you went to college in the mid-90s you know what I'm talking about...

I always liked Tracy Bonham - Mother, Mother and Tripping Daisy - I got a Girl (though the rest of that album sucks)

Tracy Chapman - Fast Car, Give Me One Reason, several
Goo Goo Dolls - Name, several
Blues Traveler - Run Around, others
Hootie and the Blowfish - Let Her Cry, Only want to be with you, Hold My Hand
Soul Asylum - Runaway Train and others
Collective Soul - Shine,
Silverchair - Anthem for year 2000,
Filter - Hey Man Nice Shot,
Counting Crows - December

also,

Gin Blossoms - Hey Jealousy, or Till I hear it from you.

Corrected (It's Gin not Gine)

I would add Semisonic - If I run
10000 maniacs - because the night.
Cake - Rock & Roll Lifestyle
The Cranberries - Salvation
Counting Crows - A Long December
Collective Soul - The world I know
REM - Nightswimming, Man on the Moon, Whats the Frequency (or was that all 80s?)
Smashing Pumpkins, Soul Asylum, Spin Doctors...

there are some B-sides to popular songs that I really liked too

Good list.

There are so many good songs from the albums that I couldn't just pick one song (some are really late 80's)
Connells - Fun and Games
Ocean Blue - self titled, Cerulean
Stone Roses - self titled, Second Coming
Mighty Lemon Drops - Laughter
Jesus and Mary Chain - Automatic
Dreams So Real - Rough Night in Jericho
Charlatans UK - Some Friendly
Ride - Nowhere (check out the song Vapour Trail)

damn...I have more, but those are the one off the top of my head

Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun
New Order - Republic
Stone Temple Pilots - Plush
They Might Be Giants - the entire Flood album

Deep Blue Something - Breakfasts At Tiffany's
Natalie Merchant - Carnival
Edie Brickell - What I am (oops, 80's, but still good)
Jesus Jones - Right Here, Right Now
The Wallflowers - One Headlight
Blur - Song 2

Summer of '69 is so far away from being a 90s song....
