I have a barcode reader and want to keep track of computer equipment, chemicals, other supplies in my lab

What is the best software that is user friendly to keep a database that is easily searchable for numerous catagories.

I am trying to learn Access right now, but didnt know if there were any better programs out there.

Hrm, well here at work we created an Access database, and simpled used the scanning software (Wasp) as our "middleware" (sits inbetween the scanner and the database).

It was pretty simple, do you know Access?

Well, I'm deffinitly no expert. I can eek by (like I did with this DB) if I have to. I didnt really have a tutorial, I just used a Access for Dummies book, and consulted with one of the engineers here at work.

plain old Excel

we use it for our work inventories. About 300 employees and a $56 mill a year company so I would guess the warehouse researched other apps.

alright I'll just mess around with access some more I guess. I can get a good database going using the forms and tables, but having trouble with an easy way to do the searching needed
