i need to recover a partition for a client, whats the best software to do it?

he had 2 partitions, c: which was xp installed, and then e: which was the user files.

i need a software, which will restore the e: partition with the files he had.

he tried to merge the partition with partition magic, but no luck, and then the e: partition dissapeared.

You can use getdataback fat or getdataback ntfs. I use them, they're awesome.
Partition Magic sucks the balls, big time.

I bought the software, but the files it recovers are all corrupted.

Am i doing something wrong? if i format the drive, do you think i might recover the files better? since the partition is fixed?
