I used to use dvd shrink and dvd decrypter...are these even used at all anymore? lol...

Sort of. Supplement DVD Decrypter with RipIt4Me and you should be able to handle most disks. In the rare case it doesn't work, try out the (above mentioned) DVD Fab Decrypter.
