Just installed the full version of powerdvd XP 4 and I'm not hugely impressed with it. Do any of it's rivals have better picture quality, this seems really grainy and patchy? I'm watching fullscreen at 1280x960x32.

1280x960 is a tru 4:3 ratio, and the latter produces a squished image. Try Win DVD 3.x from intervideo.com

Because a while ago I realised 1280x1024 is a different aspect ratio to every other screen res, I have no idea why it's one of the "standard" resolutions at all.
