I am getting into the addicted habit of drinkign smoothies and now want to purchase a blender so I can make them at home. Are there some standard ones that you can't go wrong with? Any personal recommendations? I would like to learn more about just how different each model is. I can spend up to $100 for a really good one. Come on! Share your smoothie knowledge!

The ones they use at Jamba Juice/Robec's cost upwards of $500 each. The VitaMix is the about the closest you can get to one of those machines. Course, that itself costs $400. Our Oster Blender does some mean stuff as well. About 20 years old it still works like a champ.

Another vote for the Oster brand, my parents have had one of these Oster-all-in-one units for at least 15 years w/o any issues: Oster.com :)

I use a $20 blender for my smoothies which I have every day. The thing is fine; I doubt you need an expensive smoothie maker.
