Best smartphone if there were no third party apps

So, I got to thinking. A lot of people buy the iPhone for some of the apps that they can get and I started wondering, what phone would be the best by itself without the support of a app development community. I am interested in your thoughts. If all you had on the phone was what came with it, which phone would you buy? Stated another way, if you were not allowed to download additional apps which phone would you buy.

I don't really know enough about Android phones or Windows phones to have a useful opinion. I own an iPhone.

If I understand the question correctly. I should pretend there are no iOS, Android, or Windows Phones apps. So which would I buy?

Android definitely. Because it's got Flash and so it can still run quite a lot of standard web apps.

Isn't Flash an app?

Not sure now if Flash is stock Android or just part of the bloat carriers and manufactures add. I just can't remember if I had to manually install Flash on my stock Galaxy Nexus at the moment.

Anyway. Just to waffle a bit to the iOS side. Maybe I shouldn't have been so definite about Android. After thinking a bit. The browser would probably be my main stock app. And I really do like the iOS browser more than the Android brower. iOS is very smooth and fluid and so is the browser. Android and it's browser are a bit more jerky when things are loading.

iphone

Most of the things that make me love android are all apps. If I can't have that, then iphone is better. When I had the iphone, most of the stock stuff was just fine and I just downloaded games. One could argue that's because there wasn't much more I COULD downloaded without jailbreaking... but meh.

Big thing I have against the iPhone is it's too small.

Big thing I have against Windows Phone 7 is the 800x480 resolution limit and single core. Though the latter is probably bothers my epeen more than practical need. :)

I really like that I can get a big 4.8 inch (or larger if I wanted) phone with 1280x800 resolution display, and browse websites with a decent sized screen with Android phones.

I would say Windows Phone 7, though I haven't spent a whole lot of time with Android. It has Twitter, Facebook, their own version of shazam, a qr scanner, a text translator, local search with yelp(-esque?) recommendations. It has a lot of good features built right in.

Because for people like me who are never more than 5 minutes or 5 feet from wifi, it's all you need. Don't need no stinkin cell tower!!!!

Isn't a smart phone w/o apps like a car /w no gas?

Downloaded apps. If you just had to deal with a stock OS and nothing extra, what would you want?
Its like getting a car with infinite fuel and a 30 mph limiter. What would your priorities be?

For the time being, I would have to stick with the iphone as best "phone". Battery life and construction are top notch.
