Best slightly portable but roomy case?

Any ideas/suggestions?

Fire away.

I was looking at these brands: Lian Li, Cooler Master, Silverstone, etc. I really like the cases like the Stacker. Price is important I'd like to pay less than $200 if possible.

The Stackers are hardly portable... Very hard to give a useful recommendation without more info. What do you mean by portable? (Roll around the house on wheels and give you a hernia if you had to pick it up or something you can comfortably carry out of the house.) How much stuff do you need to cram inside? Riced out or conservative? Window or no? Color? Full ATX or would microATX do? etc. etc.

In the meanwhile, some Skyhawk aluminum cases look decent and don't weigh too much. But will need some work on the cooling and noise to bring them up to current standards. Dealsonic, Newegg and mWave have been known to still carry them. One or two of them that Newegg stocks has a motorized door. Low cost is another factor.

Useful answers require detailed info.

If you're interested in the TJ-06, then take a look at the Aerocool Spiral Galaxies - pretty much the same case for a lot less. I also like the TJ-02, 04 and 05. The Tt Eureka, SViking and Armor Jr. are others to consider. The Aerocool Masstige or Coolview are interesting.

IAC, we still really don't have anything to home in on as your list is pretty much unfocused. Let us know when you have your real 'short list' locked in and then we can nitpick the candidates to death... 😉

the firts case linked would be a great case for semi-transportation (IE bringing to college then back for the summer) which is what i do with my lian li v1000 series. the wheels really help me move forward and back when changing parts or working in the case in your room... the alimunum is also light and great quality and scratch resistant... i've even tried to scratch my case on a corner with a knife... no luck =] the TT armor case will be MUCh heavier even when empty than any of the lian li case's.

no exp with silverstone cases

uhh the stacker and armor are both the same size and if you think there portable, then you must be hella buff. My armor with 5 drives + 2 opticals and my entire h2o cooling kit weights about 80lbs fully loaded. Thats a seriously PITA to carry around.

You want portablity, get a X-Qpack. Just make sure you do some slight mods to the case because from my experience with it, its has really poor cooling.

Don't get a stacker if you're going to mod it 0.o!! If you're going to mod a case... get an inexpensive one, or atleast something less expensive than an 830. I don't know what you mean by portable... because technically I've never met a computer i wasn't able to move from one place to another... but anyways... Yeah, i'd say no lian li's either... they're rather expensive... and well like I said before... don't mod a lian li. That's like trying to pimp up your wife's diamond ring... Bad things just result.

AHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA nice one talcite. I think i might put that on my sig.

But yes i agree, the first modding experiment should be done on a sub 50 dollar case. That way if you mess up with a OOPS, it only costs you one night of going out drinking. 😛

And when you get better, then you should go with modding more expensive stuff. Hell even if you pull off moding a bigger diamond on the wifey's ring im sure she wont complain. 😛

Modding top-notch cases is usually what happens--if you want something high quality, but nothing fits your needs, you get the best availible and then do as little as necessary to it to fit your needs.

I personally like to skip the plastic 😀
