Best site to find freelance web designers?

I know there are a number of them out there, but curious what sites people have used to find good talented web designers. Trying to start a new site and need someone talented but not absurdly priced.

Figure in this market there should be a lot of talent available, just not sure if simply posting on craigslist is the best way to go about it.

thanks!

Do you know anybody who has had something done? That's usually a good way to go then you can check out their work and get some feedback from that friend that they did work for. Some people may be very good web designers but horrible to deal with on a personal level to get what you want.

IMO trying to find someone on a forum that you are a part of might be good if they are interested in your business (if it's a business) since you could work something out.

If it's something else, I'm not too sure how you would find a reasonable price who can make it actually look decent.

yeah, it's not so much AT focused, it's more about sports...so don't know of many sports webpage design forums 🙂

i've worked at some places with some good designers, unfortunately none are available right now...so hence the need to go outside.

Be warned that most are non-first language English speakers (Indians) and the coding job is pretty messy to clean up if changes need to be made later on.

So I've heard I should say.

yeah...that site looks pretty suspicious...even the fact of how unattractive IT is is a bad sign for a web design website. any place else?

that site is pretty cool, but only problem is it's one and done. i'd really like to build a repor with a designer and have it be an ongoing thing (since i'm far from any type of designer) but wow there are some nice contest submissions there

If you check the submissions you'll see designers submit many iterations in response to comments left by the contest holder.

i just saw that...so you think it's ok (assuming the designer won ur contest) to contact them after to continue working with them for future stuff, or are u limited to always using that site?

I'm sure it would depend on the specific designer and what kind of deal you would be willing to make.

If that does not work out send me a PM. My fiance is a Graphich Designer and may be interested in some extra work. She just finished school 2 years ago and does some pretty nice stuff. She has not dont too many websites, but of those that I have seen looked and functioned very nice. On the bright side I know she is good with working with clients and assisting in any changes that may needed to a design etc.

How about for programmers? I'm trying to find some steady help for my small business doing various programming jobs (PHP and Java mostly) but havn't had much luck finding part-time programmers that are reliable. Anyone looking for programming work at 5 to 10 hours a week?
