Best site for a pre-modded XBOX ?

I am looking to buy an XBOX.

I want one that already has a mod chip in it. I know there are a lot of sites out there that provide this.

Anyone here recommend any particular site ?

Yeah, I'm a pirate. God forbid I turn my $180 mini-PC into the centerpiece of my home theater to play MP3, DivX, XviD, WMV, WMA, RM, DVD, SVCD, VCD, etc.

There's a lot more uses for a modded Xbox than games.

check out http://www.xbox-scene.com/ and their forums for advice on a premodded. However, I recommend installing the chip yourself . If you can't solder, then get the chameleon chip with the solderless adapter. It is incredibly easy to install.

how about a site for a premodded ps2 then? 😉

everytime i've tried to install a chip in one, i end up killing the system 😀

No pre-modded Xbox is sold with an illegal BIOS or software that enables the DVD-rom to read burned games. They come with a legal Cromwell BIOS that allows you to add Linux as your OS.

www.system-mods.com (Most expensive, but will upgrade you to a Samsung DVD)

www.modchipsource.com (cheaper, free shipping)

www.modchipman.com

Exactly right... I got an Xecuter 2.3 Lite + about a week ago from www.system-mods.com. Fast shipping, and everything was great. Really, if you read the forums at www.xbox-scene.com, like someone linked to earlier, you can do the solderless job with ease on your own. From the time the fedex man dropped the chip off, it took me about 2 hours to open the xbox, install the chip, swap my drives and get everything up and runing.

A lot of people say that the solderless chips will come loose easliy, but I have taken my xbox to work every day with me this week and the Xecuter is still on there just fine. Just make sure you screw it down nice and tight and be gentle with the box, and you'll be OK!
