I have heard a lot about the Asus P4S333 and the MSI Ultra 645. Dollar for dollar - which is the best?
Any with 133 FSB support?

Any other great 645 boards out there that anyone has used? I thought about getting one due to the official support for 133Mhz FSB.

Any of them have ATA-133, Firewire, USB 2.0?

I was looking at the MSI Ultra ARU. It has USB 2.0, ATA-133 RAID, 5.1 sound, ect..... Newegg has it for $136. Anybody tried it?
 
Check out the Soyo P4S Dragon Ultra. Has a buncha features and the Dragon+ was one of the favorite KT266A boards.

The only Sis 645 board I've heard of that even has USB 2.0 (much less Firewire on top of that) is the Soyo P4S Ultra. Any else know of any other 645's with USB 2.0?

Neither of them are important unless you are planning on using them. If you have USB2.0 devices or firewire devices then it would be a good idea to look for those features. You can always add a USB2.0 or Firewire card later if you need it.

That board is not based on the SiS645 chipset, rather the Intel 845.

Soyo has the only boards with the ATA133 and USB2.0 features. Most of the SiS645 boards lack features such as those, as well as 6 channel onboard audio.

Personally, the best performing SiS645 in my opinion is the MSI 645 Ultra333, and for only $73 at newegg. It is not feature rich, but beats most SiS645 boards, as well as Intel 845 and 850 in most benchmark when using DDR333.

Hi, i just bought a Epox 4SDA, SIS645, no raid on board, and P4 1.6GA Northwood

the performance is quite good and stable...... but if u are looking faster system, why not buy a Intel845DDR Board...

i made one PC for my friend before using the EPOX 4BDA, the performance is faster than the SIS645.....

and the price is just us$15 difference,,,,

OCWorkbench's Review

Scores close to RAMBUS on ZD Winbench99 and CC Winstone2000, RAMBUS of course wins in SisSoft memory scores, but MSI 645 outperforms ABIT TH7II in 3DMark2001.

By the way, I have been convinced that the Gigabyte GA-8SRX is now the best SiS645 board for the money. At $80, it the best performing SiS645 board according to the SiS645 review done by Digit-Life. The ASUS P4S333 is also a great performer, but it is well over $100, which makes the Gigabyte board a better buy.
 
Any particular reason why you wanna stick with SiS 645? There are some i845 boards out there (like the P4I Fire Dragon) that might suit you better. Depends on your price range though.
 
Does anyone have an opinion on the GIGABYTE GA-8SDX?

You probably don't want that particular 645 board - it supports SDR not DDR SDRAM. The GA-8SRX is the DDR board.

I think it is the best performing SiS645 board. I use to think the MSI 645 Ultra333 was, but no more. The Gigabyte really shines. I am getting that for my P4 system. At only $80, it is a great deal!
 
I am looking for ocing ability...

The asus is anywhere from 99 to 105 for the p4s333 sis645 board....I went with that one since I saw the GA-8IRXp go down in flames as an ocing board and can pretty much count gigabyte as a no show on ocing support...

Asus is proven and widely the best ocing board available...it makes up a majority of the successful ocs I have seen to date with the 1.6 and 1.8 northwoods...
