I have Last of Us for PS3, never opened it. Bought the remastered version for PS4. It is a great game, but it is all about the story, so I don't think you really need to get the remastered version.

Uncharted 4 is great, you should play it. It takes some of the best parts of The Last of Us and combines them with the charm of Uncharted. It starts off really slow, but once it gets going in about Chapter 10, it is absolutely wonderful. Best story by far of any of the Uncharted games. I'll say I liked the gameplay better from Uncharted 3 though.

It doesn't matter what you think of a game, it's not a port or whatever.

Ryse came out on Xbox one first and was never supposed to go to PC at all originally. The other games aren't ports on console, if anything the games got ported to PC. Look at the UI and interface and you can see console influence all over the place. It's just much easier to move code between systems now because the Xbox has DX12.
The ones I listed have been ported to other systems in one way or another - I never said the PS4 versions are ports. Like it or not, the list of exclusives is short and the list of good exclusives is even shorter. When you compare the list of games on each new generation of consoles, it gets shorter and shorter as time goes on. I know there are some good exclusives for both systems, but what I'm saying is that they are already pushing out new consoles (or upgraded versions of the consoles) and the list of exclusive games is nothing to even bat an eye at. The only game that I was remotely interested in buying for the PS4 (and buying a PS4 for this game) was if they continued the Ratchet and Clank series. Sadly, it looks like they are only doing the remaster of the first game and that's it.

I'll be honest, I went into this thread hoping to find a reason to finally buy a PS4, but I was left with the feeling that I probably won't ever buy one if this is the best Sony can come up with.

they didn't remaster Ratchet and Clank, they completely remade it. Completely remade from the ground up, even new levels.

I bought Uncharted 4 back in May and I haven't opened it yet. I had already played The Last of Us on PS3, but is the PS4 upgrade worth it?

I think The Last of Us is worth playing through on the PS4 just for the better visuals. But I must admit that it is one of my all time favorite games ever made and I have enjoyed playing through it multiple times.

I too agree with others in this thread; I have been extremely disappointed with the current gen console's games. There are a handful of quality titles to date but not much and many can be played on PC now. I own maybe 5 XBOXone games and a bit more than double that for PS4 but I have decided that the next big new console release I will skip until a good showing of quality games release.

I played the crap out of Destiny and the first couple of DLC's on PS4 because the game was so polished, but I know that game gets a lot of hate. I think the last game I was playing was The Division, which I thought was fun, but I can't even remember where I left off. Unfortunately, I felt that being a lower level was actually more fun, because there were a TON of people to play with after launch.

I have an Xbox too, but out of the whopping 4 games I have for it--only Forza 6 has been opened. Great game though.

Has anyone downloaded Redout on PC? It's coming out for consoles next year and is my current obsession.

As for ports, I could care less. I only play on console. I can understand remasterd games that came from PS3 or XBox360. But that should still be a footnote. I might get eh Bioshock collection for PS4 when it comes out.

It didn't read the thread title? It says "bet single player campaigns on PS4 and Xbone" not "best exclusives". Believe me I know where you are coming from, I have complained that they were planning to launch more powerful consoles without there being a whole lot of new experiences in the 3 years they have been out. Should we be confident that buying new hardware will give us new games? Not really.

In October last guardian comes out on PS4, next feb is persona 5 and horizon zero dawn. There is a new god of war in the works as well. The games are coming and there are more exclusives that have already been released but you kind of have to wade through the yearly releases and the games that are brought over from PS3

Better visuals and 60fps. It's a whole new game in 60fps.

I'm just annoyed by the fact that when the N64, PSX, PS2, XBOX, GameCube, etc. were all released, they let the games sell the systems for them. Now, they are trying to sell the systems as some kind of all-in-one entertainment center and expect us to wait for someone to bring a decent game to the table. Leading up to the PS4 and XOne launch, I felt like I was watching a presidential election.

Heh I have had that feeling a bit. It's just how the consoles are expected to be now and don't see any reason to be disappointed. That's just me though.

I think Sony has some good games coming though.

Already have Uncharted 4, which is specifically why I bought the PS4.

Horizon Zero Dawn will probably be a really good game.

Days Gone could be good, even if the Zombie games are getting trite.

Last of Us 2 will certainly hit this generation.

The next God of War looks amazing

Insomniac's Spiderman looks amazing

There's tons of decent games. Maybe you don't like them but millions of people do.

I seriously need to pop in Uncharted 4 like ASAP. I've played all the previous ones on PS3 and I loved them all.

Was anyone else kind of bored with MGS5? Guns of the Patriots was great but I lost interest in 5, like most open-world games...

I think Dying Light is at the very top for the generation, though that's as a non-PS4 owner. It's maybe the best campaign I've played in 5-10 years, in terms of being what was said about DOOM (the ability to mindlessly destroy enemies in a variety of fun ways), while also putting forth a story that made me care about some of the characters (not especially common for me). I thought that game was simply fantastic, and I don't like zombies.

In terms of pure fun, and being an exclusive, I'd add in Sunset Overdrive. You have to be OK with super-cheesy comedy at times, broken fourth walls, and zaniness that's laid on thick, of course. It's a wacky play style, though, like its developer's previous work, Ratchet and Clank, on cocaine. It's fast, it's fairly unique, and it just LOOKS different than most of the adult-oriented stuff nowadays (bright colors, goofy mascots, skipping the emotional baggage, for the most part).

I was super into Dying Light when it first dropped, mainly because I just like jumping off of stuff and smacking mobs with random objects.

Dunno what difficulty I played on, or if there were even options, but every time night time rolled around I would get absolutely wrecked. I think at one point I stopped playing because my save game got corrupt and erased like 3 hours of play time. Sorry, but Dead Space 3 did that to me and I have yet to return to that as well. Rolling my eyes at you, Origin...

Dying Light is one of the few games where I highly recommend the expansion. It's actually worth the money and that's rare to see these days. Though, I did play it on PC, so I don't know how the console versions work.

That's because the game is designed to be that way. Playing at night is optional, but with a huge ramp up in difficulty.

I always meant to, but never having people to play it with on XB1 kept me from actually picking it up.

Never did play it but now I see earlier in the year they removed the original game which was dropping in price to around $30 and now sell only Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced Edition for $60.

It was really confusing for everyone on the PC as well because we were all "upgraded" to "The Following - Enhanced Edition" even if we didn't own the Following DLC. The confusing part was, the name was the only change if you didn't own the DLC, so people thought they got the DLC for free, when the name was just changed to reflect both games rolled into one.

Back to topic, I just learned that Mount and Blade: Warband was recently released for PS4 and XOne. If anyone here hasn't given it a try, I highly recommend the M&B games. Currently sitting at 1400 hours for Warband on Steam and I still pick it up every once in a while. It's the perfect game if you've ever wanted to do pretty much anything you ever wanted to in a medieval setting. Create your own country and wipe out all others, become a vassal and lead armies into combat while earning fifes under your name and banner. Marry whoever you want to create peace between kingdoms. etc. I'd be happy to answer any questions about the game if anyone is on the edge of the seat about buying it. I cannot say what all is included in the console versions, but TaleWorlds claim to have left everything intact.

I quit playing the first new Tomb Raider because the QTE's... does this one still have an abundance of those?

Yeah the older one had quite a few. The new one was just action. I don't remember if it had any but I don't think it did. Maybe if you're about to fall it might prompt you to press "X".

By just action I mean the story will take you through mission after mission and you can finish in 10-12 hours. But if you want to linger and explore it would take quite a bit longer.

I just remember it hit a point in the story that went really fast. Just fight and action and fight and suddenly you reach the point of no return. Those last few levels were a blur. It was a great experience and there was just a little inducement to grind at most which given the pace of the story I think most people would just ignore.

My memory of the whole thing was just that it was fast and fun.

It seems all console games have QTEs now..

Spoilers for some popular games below

The entire final boss fights of both Uncharted 4 and Shadow of Mordor were QTEs. The Last of Us Had very few, but it did have at least one that was unavoidable. My memory is vague, but I believe some of the Gear of War games had them, because as a person used to Playstation buttons, I screwed up a few times. South Park Stick of Truth had a rhythm game

Personally I hate QTEs, and some of my favorite games had them. Seems they are hard to avoid these days. I wish developers would get more creative with ways to do cool things without turning them into QTEs.
