My fave is Deadwood, though I wouldnt make an argument that its the "best".
Also back in the mid 90's Showtime ran Sherman Oaks, which was funny. And Full Frontal Comedy, which was normally hilarious.

I wish they'd put them on DVD.

Everyone has mentioned my other choices, so I'll offer a new one - Dead Like Me.

It's about a girl who died and became a grim reaper. I'd categorize it as a "quirky comedy."

guys, how did deadwood end? I think I remember reading that it kind of got shut down kind of suddenly, did they get a chance to wrap up the series at all or did they leave you hanging?

I enjoyed Brotherhood season 1. Entourage is a decent show and being only a half hour per episode, it's easy to watch.

Can't believe such little mention of the wire. Hands down best HBO/Showtime drama.

Big Love, Six Feet Under, Sopranos, Deadwood. These are all great shows.

The wire and oz were two of the best shows I have ever watched. I just started watching weeds and dexter is after that. I can't believe there hasn't been more oz/wire people in here. If you would have searched, I am sure you would have read in the 15 other threads on this topic that, well the Wire especially, are the best.

I thought that show as pretty 'meh'. But Daisy sure was hot!

Yes, it even beats BoB

False.
Nothing beats Band of Brothers. It's the best work that's ever been put on film.

Dexter is the best show on TV right now. I think season 3 is just as good as season 1. It just doesn't have the same impact as season 1 because the whole concept and all the moral dilemna / deep thought provoking stuff is no longer new.

True Blood is another great show. Very interesting concept.

i was hoping the movie they made would prompt a comeback of the series, but i dont think its going to happen. i bought the dvds for the series tho, they are rated R and not edited for network tv. pretty cool.

i also like true blood. i dont watch many shows, but i may have to check out dexter. i do watch burn notice and chuck (when they decide to actually show it) tho.

The Wire and Band of Brothers are pretty much the best things ever shown on television, better even than the moon landing and janet jackson's boob.
