best server setup?

i want to setup a server on my home lan (for unreal tournament, ics, printer sharing, etc), i'll use win2000 pro.

i want to get the best hardware setup for little money, so i'll get 256mb+ of ram, cause i know win2000 works great with plenty of memory and it's very cheap rigth now, but i don't know what will be best, getting a 600+ pIII or athlon, or a couple of slot 1 pII 300 to 400, i would want to try a dual cpu system, but what will be best two low clocked cpu's or one high clocked cpu like a duron 800.

remember i'm looking for the best bang for the buck, so what setup will give higher performance and lower cost?

also i can get a k6II450 for free, would it be enough to get the task?
 
A server is just any other computer box running server software.

I used to have win2k server running on amd 450 with 256 ram just fine. Everything kinda depends on what you need to do with that server box. For home usage, I would say 450 box would be good enough.
