Best Server Backup software

Hi.
I was trying to do a google search for best Server Backup software but I wanted to get an unbiased opinion as well as what actual IT professionals use to backup their servers these days.
I have tried to use Acronis Backup and Recovery 11.5 but it had issues with my 2TB external usb drive and would not do differential backups to it... it would lock the drive and I couldnt even access the drive.

I am trying to basically backup a Data folder as well as have some kind of OS backup

Chiefcrow thanks for your suggestion its worth looking at it but never heard of the brand name before...
Anyone has experience with EaseUS® Todo Backup Server 4.5 or later ?

at work we use symantec system recovery. we use some other symantec products, their AV i can do without, but the backup suite seems to work pretty well. ive only had to do a couple of recovers but i had no issues. setup is easy to a drive, usb drive or network share.

They probably have a trial, you should check it out. Their desktop software is great and IMO it is better than Acronis.

We use a Barracuda backup server here. It backs up the state of the OS and differentials of the filesystem.

I've done restores of both the OS and files, it's been pretty solid.

Not free though.

well Im talking about 1 server backup... Usually it would be either a server 2003 or a 2008 64bit.
I have never had to recover a server from a System State backup... Is System State restore easy to do in general if there is an Active Directory with about 20 users?

Is having a backup of the System State all that is needed for an active directory?

System State backups are all you really need, but it's usually a good idea to backup EVERYTHING on the C drive along with it. A missing temp file or whatever can sometimes cause issues.

In theory, a system state restore is quick and painless. But you should aim to have the proper redundancy in place so that you never get there - you can never predict what kind of problems will come of doing a restore.
